District Paraeducator

Job Summary:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate District Paraeducator to join our team at Southside Elementary School. As a key member of our support staff, you will play a vital role in assisting students with instruction, maintaining a positive learning environment, and supporting the special education teacher.

• Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher, promoting academic growth and development.
• Maintain a safe and organized learning environment, ensuring the well-being of students and staff.
• Support the special education teacher with instructional activities, including small group and individual pupil instruction.
• Escort students from room to room, promoting socialization and independence.
• Provide assistance with toileting and other personal care needs, as required.
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff to implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
• Supervise students during recess and lunch, promoting socialization and physical activity.
• Assist students with classroom assignments, ensuring they stay on track with their academic goals.
• Copy materials for instructional purposes, supporting the teaching staff.
• Assist with filing and preparing necessary paperwork, maintaining accurate records.
• Alert teachers to any problems or concerns that may arise, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree.
• Two years of college credit or an associate's degree (or higher) in a related field.
• Successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment, demonstrating content knowledge in mathematics, reading, and writing.
