About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Accountant to join our External Reporting and Technical Accounting team. As a key member of our Cengage Finance organization, you will be responsible for supporting the preparation of quarterly and annual reporting documents, as well as conducting technical accounting research and preparing memos to detail company-specific positions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the company's external reporting process, ensuring alignment with SEC rules and regulations for 10-Qs / 10-Ks
  • Support coordination with internal/external counsel and external auditors
  • Conduct technical accounting research and prepare memos to detail company-specific positions
  • Assist with drafting, communication, and implementation of worldwide Cengage Accounting & Financial Policies
  • Collaborate with partners in Business Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis, Treasury, Tax, Legal and global operational accounting teams to ensure accuracy of external reporting and earnings releases
  • Maintain strong internal controls over applicable areas of responsibility
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, CPA preferred
  • 3+ years of increasing responsibilities and related experience, public accounting experience a plus
  • Experience with Workiva and XBLR, a plus
  • Self-motivated with ability to handle fluctuating workload and timelines
  • Careful attention to detail and the ability to organize
  • Comfortable operating within a dynamic, complex organizational structure and ability to be flexible and collaborate with team on different projects and needs
  • Ability to succeed in a multi-priority, fast-paced and changing environment and readiness to embrace and successfully drive/implement change
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
