POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct guidance of healthcare providers and nursing leadership, the Clinical Care Assistant is responsible for a range of administrative and clinical responsibilities aimed at delivering high-quality and compassionate patient care. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, welcoming and escorting patients to examination rooms, gathering medical histories, measuring and documenting vital signs, preparing patients for examinations or procedures, and assisting healthcare providers during these processes.

Department: Internal Medicine

Location: Dearborn, MI

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or equivalent G.E.D.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with keyboarding preferred.
  • Ability to perform a variety of clinical tasks related to outpatient care preferred.
  • Problem-solving skills are preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are preferred.
  • Experience with EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) is preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program with a formal clinical externship (minimum hours required).
  • OR Completion of a Medical Assistant program without a clinical externship but with at least one year of clinical medical assisting experience within the last five years.
  • OR Current Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five years of clinical medical assisting experience.
  • OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • OR Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one year of clinical experience in a medical setting within the last five years.
  • OR Military-trained medical personnel with at least one year of clinical experience in a medical setting within the last five years.

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:

  • Current BLS-C certification upon hire or successful completion by the end of orientation.
