Position Overview:

We are looking for a highly qualified and experienced Senior Structures Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive estimating services from project announcement through to award and budget formulation. Projects will encompass bridges (both substructure and superstructure), retaining walls, shoring, cast-in-place structures, precast structures, box culverts, and all heavy civil/highway work related to structural components.

This position demands excellent communication and organizational abilities to effectively collaborate with clients, subcontractors, material suppliers, design firms, utility companies, and all relevant stakeholders to ensure the most precise and thorough structures estimates are compiled using HCSS Heavy Bid. You will work closely with the Banicki Estimating Team, including the Chief Estimator and Senior Estimator, to ensure competitive structures bids are prepared in a timely manner.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to compile complete structures estimates and associated heavy civil/highway work using HCSS Heavy Bid.
  • Accurately prepare structures estimates by calculating statistical data such as quantity take-offs, material pricing, labor costs, and equipment expenses.
  • Quickly analyze structural projects through thorough review of plans, geotechnical reports, and site visits.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculations using OST, Planswift, Excel, and Bluebeam.
  • Review and analyze historical data to create guidelines for structures estimates.
  • Incorporate historical data into unit and man-hour figures within HCSS Heavy Bid.
  • Contribute to the development of bid package estimate documents.
  • Maintain organized files of working documents to support estimating figures.
  • Manage subcontractor requests for proposals.
  • Evaluate design options and recommend optimal solutions based on cost and engineering quality.
  • Follow awarded contracts, including estimating extra work items and change orders.
  • Lead comprehensive bid reviews with the Chief Estimator and Management Team prior to bid submission.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of operational experience on structures-related projects, including bridges, retaining walls, and heavy civil/highway work.
  • At least 5 years of estimating experience on structures-related projects.
  • Proficiency in HCSS Heavy Bid, OST, Excel, and Bluebeam.
  • Strong technical knowledge of structural scopes, specifications, heavy civil construction, and civil engineering principles.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
  • Solid understanding of structures production, crew assembly, equipment allocation, and work scheduling.
