Position Summary:
The Radiologic Imaging Specialist is responsible for executing professional tasks associated with various technical procedures for radiologic assessment and aids physicians in determining practical applications and technical parameters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operates radiation-emitting devices including stationary, portable, fluoroscopy, and C-arm systems.
- Selects, sets, and adjusts appropriate techniques based on the patient's physical condition, size, age, or suspected medical issues.
- Performs essential administrative tasks ensuring accurate scheduling, correct examinations, prior authorizations, and review of patient records.
- Adheres to physicians' directives and radiologist protocols.
- Positions, transfers, and properly secures patients as necessary.
- Provides comfort to patients by addressing their concerns and answering questions.
- Assists Radiologists and other medical professionals during biopsies and interventional procedures.
- Takes responsibility for maintaining sterile techniques and contrast media as required by the radiologist.
- Prepares necessary supplies and special trays for procedures.
- Monitors patient conditions within the department and provides necessary medical assistance such as first aid or basic life support.
- Processes, reviews, and approves the technical quality of each image in accordance with quality assurance guidelines to ensure optimal diagnostic images.
- Maintains accuracy and responsibility for facility reports, database records, and logs.
- Ensures a safe and hygienic environment.
- Responsible for the proper and efficient operation of all equipment.
- Identifies potential equipment malfunctions and informs relevant team members.
- Orders and maintains sufficient supplies.
- Facilitates orientation and ongoing education for staff, students, and other healthcare professionals within the department.
- Determines qualifications for personnel using equipment and performing procedures under the guidance of Radiologists.
- Performs additional related duties as required.
Position Requirements:
- Associate degree in radiography is required.
- 1+ years of relevant work experience is preferred.
- Must possess and maintain AART certification.
- Must hold and maintain a radiography license from the state of Wisconsin.
- BLS certification is required or must be obtained within 3 months of hire.
- Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail are essential.
- Must comply with continuing education requirements through professional literature, on-the-job training, and other educational opportunities.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Intermediate to expert proficiency with computer systems is required.
- Requires strong assessment, evaluation, and decision-making skills.
- Knowledge of radiography, phlebotomy, and laboratory safety protocols.
- Self-motivated individual with excellent compassion, interpersonal communication, oral and written communication, and problem-solving abilities.
