Job SummaryThe Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach will work with the support of the Director of Athletics, and the Head Varsity Coach, to develop all players in the program on and off the court through a championship caliber environment, an open door for competition and development of skills, character, and leadership at all levels.
Responsibilities- Communicate with other coaches outside the ISL to schedule in-season games.
- Coordinate and supervise a regular schedule of practice.
- Encourage sportsmanship, team unity, and enforce all sportsmanship guidelines.
- Enforce discipline of contest, school, league and state rules and regulations.
- Supervise assistant coaches and enhance their professional development.
- Support school organized efforts for a sustainable fundraising plan and communicate with players, coaches, and community.
- Develop and maintain a relationship with the Athletic Director and Administration to facilitate court/facility use and monitor student athlete academic development.
- Manage Holy Child's basketball program for all levels.
- Provide and display a willingness to work with the Athletics Department, administration, staff, student-athletes, and parents.
- Support players in the college selection and recruiting process.
- Develop and organize out of season training, tournaments, and player development.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, coaches, and community. Experience coaching/participating in basketball at the high school or collegiate level. Knowledge of applicable league rules.
- Excellent organizational and motivational skills.
