HV Transmission Cable Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled HV Transmission Cable Engineer to join our team at Jacobs. As a key member of our engineering team, you will play a critical role in supporting and leading ongoing projects, as well as business development and proposal support with a variety of clients.
Key Responsibilities- Develop HV/EHV cabling systems specifications, concept/detailed design and design review, estimation, site supervision and support as required.
- Provide technical support to the team on all aspects of HV cable system engineering and design.
- Prepare plant and equipment technical specification, power cable route specifications, tender specifications, technical and progress reports.
- Ensure correct and accurate interface with other engineering functions involved in the projects, attend, and conduct internal and external meetings with colleagues, clients, and subcontractors.
- Support factory inspections Test (FAT).
- Perform technical calculations including cable size, rating calculations, TMF and EMF calculations, Sheath induced voltage calculations and other.
- Assist with temporary works design schemes.
- Ensure that the drawings and specification documents contain sufficient, accurate information for construction of the works. Prepare written risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works.
- Ensure that inspection and test plans are completed as required by the specifications, including a check of dimension accuracy and quality.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 8 years of direct experience with underground and/or subsea cable design and installation.
- Ability to work with cable design software such as CYMCAP.
- Team player with great interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with major global cable OEMs.
- Ability and willingness to travel within North America.
- Experience with HVDC and/or subsea cable technologies.
- Active/ongoing involvement in power cable related working groups and standards committees such as ICC or CIGRE.
