Job Summary

Cardinal Health is seeking a PRN Pharmacist to join our team at PAM Specialty Hospital of Las Vegas. As a PRN Pharmacist, you will work as needed during facility hours and on call, providing clinical pharmacy services to patients and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities
  • Interpret medical orders and transcribe to computerized patient medication profiles accurately.
  • Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals, including sterile, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition products.
  • Issue controlled substances to patient care areas and maintain records as required by law.
  • Monitor drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, and appropriateness of drug and dose.
  • Assist with pharmacokinetics consult service and drug dosing per organizational protocol.
  • Review and interpret culture and susceptibility data for antibiotic appropriateness and recommend changes as needed.
  • Detect and report suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Sustain the formulary by minimizing nonformulary procurements and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
  • Provide clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners and suggest appropriate therapeutic alternatives.
  • Document all clinical activities and interventions accurately and completely.
  • Participate in quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department.
Qualifications
  • Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of pharmacy.
  • Must be a "good standing" licensed Pharmacist in Nevada.
  • In-patient/hospital pharmacy experience highly preferred.
  • IV compounding experience highly preferred.
  • Ability to hear, write, and speak clearly in order to communicate with customers and healthcare professionals.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Manual dexterity required for occasional reach, lifting, and holding of small objects.
  • Computer savvy to learn and perform successful operation of multiple pharmacy information systems.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts and on call or be in an on call rotation.
