Police Officer

The City of Whittier is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining law and order, protecting the public, and enforcing laws and regulations. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

• Patrol assigned areas by car, foot, motorcycle, bicycle, or horse to maintain law and order and prevent crime.
• Respond to emergency calls and conduct initial and follow-up investigations.
• Interview victims, complainants, and witnesses to gather information and evidence.
• Enforce traffic laws and regulations, and conduct complete accident investigations.
• Provide assistance and support to the public, and respond to questions and concerns.

• Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident alien who is eligible and has applied for U.S. citizenship.
• Must possess a valid Class C California driver's license.
• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and a California POST-certified basic academy certificate.
• Must be physically able to perform the duties of a Police Officer, including standing, walking, running, jumping, and lifting.
