Radiation Therapist

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in the treatment of cancer patients.

• Communicate effectively with patients, families, medical staff, and healthcare team members to ensure seamless care.
• Administer radiation treatments using various modalities and protocols, ensuring accurate set-up and delivery.
• Perform simulation procedures to verify proper functioning of linear accelerators, simulators, and Computed Tomography machines.
• Maintain accurate records of daily treatments and other required documents.
• Ensure portal verification films are taken at appropriate intervals and recognize the need for adjustments in treatment ports.
• Position patients for initial definition of tumor volume and film specified treatment volume for review and approval by physicians.
• Mark/tattoo appropriate body anatomy for daily re-positioning on linear accelerator and document or capture patient measurements and machine treatment parameters.
• Acquire Computed Tomography machine data sets for patient positioning, contours, and set-up parameters.
• Attend department in-services, conferences, and meetings to stay up-to-date on new technology and assist in the development of new techniques.
• Perform daily quality assurance on linear accelerators, simulators, and Computed Tomography machines to verify accurate output of designated parameters.
• Participate or provide assistance with in-vivo dosimetry measurements and special dosimetry.

• Associate degree in Radiation Therapy or Certification.
• 2 years of experience as a Staff Therapist in a Radiation Therapy department with experience in linear accelerators and patient simulation.
• American Registered Radiologic Technologist required upon start.
• Basic Life Support from AHA required upon start.
• VA License highly preferred.
