Maintenance Process Improvement Intern

ResponsibilitiesPanasonic North America is collaborating with Tesla at a massive battery factory near Reno, Nevada. Our role at the Gigafactory is to manufacture and supply cylindrical lithium-ion cells to Tesla for their electric vehicles and energy storage systems.
The selected interns will be responsible for analyzing and evaluating process input/output data to reduce downtime and increase production. They will work closely with other team members to increase understanding of downtime and gather, analyze, and interpret data using statistical analysis methods to identify trends and opportunities relating to lost production.
The interns will also collaborate with multiple departments to trial new processes, calculate the financial impact of proposed process improvements, and drive the sustainment of improvements through the use of standard work, PFMEA, control plans, process checks, and other tools.
RequirementsTo be eligible for this internship, candidates must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited four-year college or university. They must have completed at least two years of full-time enrollment (minimum 12 credit hours per semester) in a Bachelor's Degree program in Industrial Engineering, Materials Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Candidates must have basic knowledge of project management processes and tools, strong problem-solving skills, strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal, teamwork, and collaboration skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred QualificationsPreferred qualifications include hands-on experience through project teams or previous jobs, a desire to create a sustainable future through energy storage, renewable energy, and electric vehicles, and fluency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
Work EnvironmentThe selected interns will work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a team of experienced engineers. They will have the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and contribute to the development of innovative solutions.
The work environment is safe and healthy, and the selected interns will be required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as necessary. The selected interns will also be required to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
