Environmental Scientist and Regulatory Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Scientist and Regulatory Specialist to join our team at Stantec. As a key member of our Environmental Permitting and Assessment Professionals team, you will play a critical role in supporting our clients in New Hampshire and collaborating with our multi-disciplinary staff on various projects.
Key Responsibilities- Project Leadership: Provide technical guidance on projects to develop collaborative solutions to environmental challenges for energy and transmission projects.
- Team Management: Lead our teams that collect and report on tasks, including wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species surveys, habitat characterizations, land use mapping, and vegetation cover classification.
- Permitting and Compliance: Prepare, coordinate, and review permit applications for the US Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE) and New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES), and consult with various agencies associated with reviewing large-scale development or infrastructure improvement activities.
- Proposal Development: Develop proposal strategies and lead/collaborate with a broader proposal team.
- Client Service: Lead and assist with the delivery of high-quality service on client projects, striving to obtain necessary permits.
- Communication: Effectively communicate data collection methods and results to varied audiences, including clients, regulators, and the public.
- Mentorship: Mentor and support the professional development of staff.
- Field Work: Conduct field work to collect technical data or for agency/client site visits or field inspections.
- Client Relationship Management: Foster a positive and effective relationship with clients and their contractors, leading to successful project execution and potential future work.
- Presentations: Occasionally lead project informational sessions and/or present permit applications in front of municipal audiences or other regulatory agencies.
- Site Visits: Use permitting and natural resource knowledge and experience to advise contractors and clients on site visits and project meetings.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, Geology, or a related field. Graduate degree is preferred.
- Certifications: NH Certification as Professional Wetland Scientist is preferred.
- Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience required.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements, including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
