Job Summary
The State of Nebraska is seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior. As a key member of our transportation infrastructure team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of our state's highways and roadways.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain heavy highway maintenance equipment, including loaders, trucks, tractors, and mowers.
- Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment and assist with repairs.
- Conduct manual labor tasks such as pothole patching, sign repair, and erecting snow fences.
- Load and unload materials as needed.
- Work long hours in emergency situations, such as flooding and storms.
- Work in temperature extremes and be able to climb, bend, stoop, and crouch.
- Be available for emergency call-outs and report to work with short notice.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license.
- Highway Maintenance Worker/Senior: Must possess a Class A or B Commercial Driver's License with air brakes and tanker endorsements within 60 days of employment.
- Preferred qualifications include experience in the operation of heavy equipment or a farming background, a valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with tanker endorsement, and commercial pesticide applicator's license.
