About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Transmission Engineer to join our team at Westwood Professional Services, Inc. As a key member of our electric transmission design team, you will be responsible for leading teams in the design and execution of multiple projects, ranging from small quick-turnaround to large complex transmission lines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead technical staff in the preparation of utility engineering designs, cost estimates, and customer billing.
  • Manage the engineering aspects of multiple projects, including developing project schedules and defining technical staff for projects and daily work.
  • Assist in the development of technical staff through mentoring, instructing of technical engineering principles, and governing electrical and safety codes.
  • Instruct and teach the technical staff in the use of computer systems and software, tools and equipment, and company-owned motor vehicles.
  • Manage and provide guidance and direction for professional communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate internal/external reviews of designs completed prior to submissions.
  • Collaborate with department managers to develop, evaluate, and implement new policies and procedures that reflect best engineering practices.
  • Collaborate with other departments and divisions on company-wide initiatives.
  • Maintain great relationships with existing clients and seek out opportunities with potential future clients.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil/Structural or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Active PE licensure.
  • 5+ years of experience in Power Transmission Design.
  • Professional disposition and the ability to be open-minded when it comes to planning and execution of projects being worked on by staff.
  • Ability to effectively supervise a project team of Engineers & Engineering Technicians while maintaining work product quality, consistency, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Advanced knowledge of overhead & underground Transmission facilities and understanding of its integration into daily activities.
  • Experience with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and other industry-relevant standards.
  • Proficiency in PLS-CADD, MFAD, AutoCAD, and other industry software.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Project).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience leading an engineering team, demonstrating proficiency in resource management and delegation of engineering tasks.
  • Experience providing technical direction for a department/organization in the field of expertise.
