Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Police Officer to join our team at the City of Brentwood, TN. As a Police Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing laws and maintaining order in our community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce laws and regulations to protect life and property
  • Patrol designated areas to prevent and detect crime
  • Respond to emergency calls and provide assistance as needed
  • Conduct investigations and gather evidence
  • Testify in court and serve warrants
Requirements
  • Must have completed 60 semester hours of college credit from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have a valid Tennessee driver's license
  • Must not have any visible tattoos in a traditional long-sleeved police uniform

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to operate a variety of machines, tools, and equipment, including a motor vehicle, computer, calculator, copy machine, telephone, camera, video camera, tape recorder, two-way radio, radar gun, baton, handcuffs, gun/firearm, etc.

Interpersonal Skills

Must be able to deal with people, including staff, supervisors, general public, and officials, beyond giving and receiving instructions.

Language Ability

Must be able to read a variety of informational documentation, directions, instructions, and methods and procedures related to the job of Police Officer.

Intelligence

Must be able to learn and understand basic to complex principles and techniques.

Verbal Aptitude

Must be able to record and deliver information to supervisors and officials.

Numeral Aptitude

Must be able to utilize mathematical formulas and perform calculations.

Form/ Spatial Aptitude

Must be able to inspect items for proper length, width, and shape.

Motor Coordination

Must be able to coordinate hands and eyes in using automated equipment.

Manual Dexterity

Must be able to handle a variety of items, equipment, control knobs, switches, etc.

Color Discrimination

Must be able to differentiate colors and shades of color.

Interpersonal Temperament

Must be able to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions.

Physical Communication

Must be able to talk and/or hear.
