Dear Candidate,
Cambridge Capital LLC, a prominent growth capital and buyout firm specializing in the supply chain industry, is looking to enhance its team. We are in search of a seasoned investment professional who will take charge of investment sourcing, comprehensive analysis, execution, and management of our portfolio. This role will be based at our headquarters and will provide the successful candidate with substantial independence to identify promising investment prospects, negotiate acquisitions, secure financing, and support our portfolio at the Board level.
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A minimum of 4-8 years of experience in investment banking or private equity, with at least 2 years specifically in private equity
- A strong commitment to integrity, sound judgment, and reliability
- A proven track record of successful investments
- Expertise in Excel and financial modeling, including the ability to create comprehensive underwriting models based on realistic assumptions
- The capability to engage in meaningful discussions with business owners, management teams of potential investments, capital providers, M&A advisors, and co-investors
- The ability to cultivate and sustain productive professional relationships
- Exceptional organizational skills and diligence in follow-up
- A self-starter mentality, thriving in an entrepreneurial setting
Key Responsibilities Include:
Investment Sourcing and Evaluation
- Utilizing existing firm connections and proactively sourcing new investment opportunities and portfolio enhancements through both in-person and virtual engagements
- Evaluating incoming investment proposals
- Identifying key strengths and weaknesses and formulating pertinent follow-up inquiries and information requests
- Developing three-statement LBO models and other financial analyses
- Creating concise initial summaries and comprehensive Investment Committee memoranda
Deal Negotiation and Financing
- Drafting and negotiating Indications of Interest (IOIs) and Letters of Intent (LOIs)
- Preparing supplementary materials for deals
- Participating in management presentations
- Identifying suitable financial partners for specific transactions, including fostering new lending and co-investor relationships
- Engaging with potential financing sources, addressing their inquiries, and securing their commitment to support acquisitions
- Negotiating terms with interested financial backers
Due Diligence and Closing Procedures
- Requesting quotes from service providers and negotiating engagement agreements
- Leading and managing the entire due diligence process, encompassing accounting, tax, insurance, benefits, management background checks, and extensive legal reviews
- Reviewing estimated closing documents and preparing final fund flows, wire transfers, and other essential analyses
Portfolio Management and Reporting
- Providing support to portfolio companies at the Board level, including debt restructuring, marketing strategies, budgeting, executive recruitment, and adding value wherever feasible
- Attending select Board meetings of portfolio companies
- Preparing internal reports for the Investment Committee and materials for Limited Partners, including budget comparisons with variance analysis, Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A), and valuation positions
