Position Overview
The Nursing Staff Scheduling Specialist plays a crucial role in managing the daily, weekly, and monthly staffing schedules for nursing personnel, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational standards.
Qualifications and Experience
• Nursing diploma (Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing)
• Active and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state
• Previous experience in staff scheduling within a healthcare environment is preferred
Essential Skills
• Proficient in computer applications, particularly Excel and/or other scheduling software
• In-depth knowledge of nursing practices and procedures
• Ability to make independent decisions when necessary
• Familiarity with the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing operations in post-acute care settings
• Capability to implement and interpret departmental programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures
Key Responsibilities
• Schedule nursing staff according to the levels determined by the Director of Nursing (DON) or Executive Director (ED)
• Maintain accurate records of all shift schedules and ensure clear communication with staff
• Understand state requirements and assist in forecasting staffing needs
• Perform nursing duties as required
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive demeanor towards patients
• Assist in patient evacuation when necessary
• Demonstrate consistent and reliable attendance
• Utilize reasoning skills and sound judgment in daily tasks
• Collaborate effectively within an interdisciplinary team
• Engage in physical activities such as sitting, standing, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, stooping, walking, reaching, and moving intermittently throughout working hours
• Communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
