Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Paraeducator to join our team at Alaska Teacher Placement. As a Paraeducator, you will work closely with students who require special education support, providing individualized instruction and assistance to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructional support to students with special needs, including reading, writing, math, and vocational education.
  • Work individually or in small groups to deliver tailored instruction and support.
  • Record student progress and behavior, providing regular updates to teachers and other support staff.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; some prior experience working with school-age children preferred.
  • CPR, first aid, and district-approved behavior management techniques may be required.
  • Valid Alaska driver's license required.
  • Must have either an AA degree, or 48 semester hours, or be willing to take and pass the Highly Qualified Paraprofessional Exam.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with students with special needs.
  • Knowledge of behavior modification techniques and strategies.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
