Position Overview:
This role presents an exceptional opportunity for a skilled professional with technical and operational knowledge in high-performance facilities to oversee the management and upkeep of a cutting-edge 60,000 square foot building designed with sustainable practices.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Facilities Operations Engineer, you will play a vital role in advancing TEP's sustainability initiatives by:

  • Managing all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems to maintain a safe and healthy environment for all occupants.
  • Identifying and executing energy-saving strategies to meet sustainability targets, while monitoring key performance indicators such as greenhouse gas emissions and resource consumption.
  • Leading maintenance and repair efforts to ensure optimal functionality of all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, lighting, plumbing, and fire protection.
  • Establishing and maintaining a preventive maintenance schedule for all mechanical systems to ensure peak performance.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant New York City and State operational certifications.
  • Implementing an efficient system for addressing repair and maintenance requests, along with maintaining accurate records for preventive maintenance and safety logs.
  • Coordinating contract services for facility repairs and maintenance, including managing external contractors.
  • Overseeing the Building Management System and responding to emergencies as needed.
  • Maintaining the building's access control system and troubleshooting issues with door hardware.
  • Creating and managing an inventory of tools and equipment essential for maintenance tasks.
  • Providing training for staff on safety protocols, fire safety, preventive maintenance, and building systems.

Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess:

  • A valid Certificate of Fitness for Standpipe (S-12), Automatic Sprinkler (S-13), and Fire Alarm Systems (S-95) from the New York City Fire Department.
  • A Certificate for Hazardous Materials from an OSHA-approved program.
  • A valid Universal Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Certificate (EPA 608 Certificate) from the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
  • A Certificate Q-01 Refrigerating System Operating Engineer is preferred but not mandatory.

About You:
Ideal candidates will have:

  • A minimum of five years of experience in commercial or educational facility operations.
  • Expertise in energy conservation and familiarity with NYC Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection Codes.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical system maintenance.
  • The ability to interpret schematic drawings.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
