Job Summary

The HR/Payroll Clerk is responsible for daily processing of branch payroll functions and clerical HR tasks under the supervision of the Office Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process new hire packets, set up new employees in payroll systems, and terminate employees in a timely manner.
  • Execute daily payroll functions, including time and attendance sweeps, employee maintenance, and weekly closing processes.
  • Maintain confidential communication with management regarding payroll rates, status changes, garnishments, union issues, leaves of absence, and other sensitive matters.
  • Track vacation, leaves of absence, and bonus accruals.
Additional Duties
  • Maintain personnel files, Affirmative Action Plan record keeping, submit weekly reports, and respond to requests from governmental agencies as needed.
  • Verify new employee references, coordinate new hire orientation, and participate in the branch Safety program.
Requirements
  • Proficient in MS Office, with an emphasis on Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Proven ability to work successfully in a team environment.
  • Great organizational and multi-tasking skills; detail-oriented.
Education
  • High school graduation or similar experience.
Work Environment
  • Indoor offices, meeting rooms of a typical industrial laundry, service center, or depot.
