Job Summary:

AVODAH HOME CARE is seeking dedicated and compassionate Senior Home Care Assistants to provide essential support services to our clients in the comfort of their own homes. This role involves assisting clients with activities of daily living, monitoring health, maintaining a safe environment, providing companionship, documenting care, supporting client independence, and collaborating with the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide Personal Care:
    • Assist clients with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and other activities of daily living.
    • Help clients maintain mobility by transferring from bed to wheelchair, walking, and exercising as needed.
    • Assist with feeding, including meal preparation and feeding clients who require assistance.
  • Monitor Health:
  • Taking and recording vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
  • Observing and reporting any changes in the client's condition to the supervising nurse or healthcare provider.
  • Providing medication reminders as directed by the healthcare provider.
Maintain a Safe Environment:
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks to ensure a clean and safe environment for the client.
  • FOLLOWING safety protocols to prevent accidents and injuries, including proper use of lifting techniques and assistive devices.
Provide Companionship:
  • Engaging clients in meaningful conversation and activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
  • Accompanying clients to appointments, social activities, and errands as needed.
Document Care:
  • Accurately documenting the care provided and any changes in the client's condition in the client's care plan or daily log.
  • Maintaining confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA guidelines when handling client information.
Support Client Independence:
  • Encouraging clients to do as much as they can for themselves, fostering independence while providing support where necessary.
Collaborate with the Healthcare Team:
  • Working closely with nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care is provided.
  • Participating in care planning meetings and communicating effectively with the healthcare team.
Emergency Response:
  • Responding quickly and appropriately to emergencies, including administering basic first aid or CPR if trained and contacting emergency services.
Requirements:
  • A High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification or Personal Care Assistant (PCA) certification
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred
  • Previous experience in a home care or healthcare setting is preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting and transferring clients
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic demeanor
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation
  • Be capable of following a care services plan with minimal supervision;
  • Evidence of maturity and ability to deal effectively with job demands
  • Attends minimum of 8 hours of caregiver in-services per year
  • Participates in professional meetings when directed
  • Shall have a criminal history check conducted prior to being offered work with this agency
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, which may include heavy lifting and extensive bending and standing
  • Able to bend and stand to perform job duties and lift up to 50+pounds
  • Able to drive up to 50+ miles per day
  • Is neat in appearance and practice, with good personal hygiene

Our compensation package includes an estimated annual salary of $34,740 - $44,020 based on experience and qualifications. This role provides opportunities for professional growth and development, as well as a chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our clients.
