PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Support the execution of Outdoor Education, Youth Committee, and Weekend Camp initiatives
  • Engage in training sessions for Outdoor Education activities
  • Conduct classes and adhere to established curricula for visiting educational groups
  • Oversee climbing wall and low ropes activities for participants
  • Manage and supervise lakefront events such as boating and fishing
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and address any arising concerns
  • Maintain professional communication with all participants
  • Contribute to the enhancement and evolution of programs
  • Be available for flexible scheduling, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Assist with routine cleaning responsibilities and provide support across various program areas as necessary

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in overnight camping is advantageous
  • Must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Availability throughout the designated semester
  • Proven alignment with the YMCA's core values
  • CPR Pro & First Aid Certification is mandatory (training can be provided)
  • Ability to engage with diverse groups and uphold principles of inclusion

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have the physical capability to perform essential job functions and supervise activities safely
  • Ability to navigate the work environment and lift items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Visual acuity and adaptability to various tasks
  • Moderate noise levels in the work setting
