The Metal Commodities Trader plays a crucial role in the procurement and sale of scrap metal resources, leveraging market insights to make informed trading decisions.
With a comprehensive understanding of current market dynamics, the trader evaluates the worth of various metal types effectively.
This position reports directly to the Commercial Sales Manager.Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor both domestic and global markets to facilitate profitable transactions in the buying and selling of commodities.
- Work collaboratively with internal trading teams to establish competitive pricing structures for clients.
- Expertly assess and identify different metal types, including copper, aluminum, brass, stainless steel, and iron.
- Source ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal from external suppliers, such as scrap yards, for direct sale to clients.
- Explore new potential markets and consumers for scrap metal.
- Procure materials from a variety of sources, including retail, dealers, light industrial clients, repair shops, demolition projects, and clean-up operations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to understand their unique needs and requirements.
- Drive business growth and profitability with assigned accounts.
- Capitalize on opportunities to close deals, enhancing market share against competitors.
- Provide tailored solutions to enhance and maximize scrap recovery for companies.
- Meet or exceed established buying and sourcing targets.
- Process requests for price quotes, purchase orders, adjustments, and cancellations with vendors and manufacturers.
- Negotiate with suppliers regarding pricing, payment, and shipping terms to ensure cost efficiency.
- Maintain regular communication with suppliers to stay updated on lead times and inventory for effective planning.
- Keep precise records of all relevant activities.
