Become a Railway Signal Technician with CPKC

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As a Railway Signal Technician, you will operate independently within a specified area designated by management, which may present occasional physical demands.
  • Your duties will encompass cable identification, painting, and upkeep of signal housings and apparatus; diagnosing signal systems and establishing electrical connections.
  • In this role, you are crucial in adhering to industry regulations and improving client satisfaction, all while promoting safe and effective railway operations.
  • Standard working hours are Monday through Friday, with the expectation of being on-call as needed.
  • Responsibilities include following directives from crew leaders, implementing safety protocols, adhering to corporate and regulatory standards, performing cable repairs, and maintaining signal apparatus, among other tasks.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required.
  • A valid driver's license is essential.
  • Candidates must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Comfort in working outdoors in varying weather conditions is necessary.
  • Familiarity with heavy machinery such as backhoes and trenchers is advantageous.
  • Prior experience with signaling systems in the railway sector is expected.
  • Capability to obtain a medical certification is required.
