Position Overview for RN Operating Room Baylor
- Engage in 24-hour weekend shifts (2 x 12-hour shifts) while receiving compensation for 36 hours of work, along with additional weekend shift incentives.
- Tasked with circulating within the operating room and providing assistance to physicians during surgical interventions.
- Must thrive in a high-pressure, fast-paced clinical environment.
- Utilize strong interpersonal and communication skills to meet organizational objectives.
- Responsible for maintaining the quality of nursing services provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare for surgical interventions by conducting patient assessments and reviewing medical records.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop comprehensive care plans.
- Ensure the availability of necessary supplies and instruments for surgical procedures.
- Accurately document all procedures in patient medical records.
- Adhere to aseptic techniques and universal safety precautions.
- Assist with the turnover of the operating room and manage inventory stocking.
- Participate in the training and orientation of new surgical staff members.
- Follow established safety protocols for medication management and infection control.
Qualifications
- Minimum educational requirement: Associate's Degree in Nursing.
- Preferred educational background: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum experience required: One year of operating room experience in an acute care environment.
- Preferred experience: One year in a Level 1 trauma operating room setting.
- Licenses and certifications required: Current and valid RN license, BLS certification, ACLS certification.
- Work schedule: 24 hours per week with weekend differential.
- On-call requirement: None.
