Job Summary

The Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking a highly skilled Physician Assistant to join our team. As a Physician Assistant, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the delivery of exceptional healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive patient care, including history taking, physical examinations, and developing individualized treatment plans.
  • Diagnose and treat patients, sometimes under the review and/or co-signature of a physician.
  • Prescribe medications and provide education and counseling to patients and their families.
  • Develop meaningful goals to assist patients and their families in attaining the optimum level of physical, physiological, sociological, and psychological balance within the limitations imposed by their illnesses.
  • Contribute to the achievement of quality care standards and actively participate in patient safety initiatives.
  • Establish professional working relationships with clinical service providers within the medical center, outpatient clinics, and community-based outpatient clinics.
  • Provide telephone consultation, screen consults for appropriate and timely care prior to scheduling, and communicate with inpatient multidisciplinary team members.
  • Maintain continuing education as required by the specialty section and the appropriate professional licensing board.
  • Provide patient care in accordance with professional standards, core values, and commitment to service excellence.
Requirements
  • Citizenship: Must be a citizen of the United States.
  • Education: Graduate of a training program accredited by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education of PA (ARC-PA) or one of its predecessor organizations.
  • Certification: Must have successfully passed the PA National Certifying Exam (PANCE).
  • Licensure: Must possess an active, current, full, and unrestricted license to practice in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in any discipline.
  • One year of experience as a PA.
