We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate LPN to join our team at the East Mountain Youth Lodge. As a LPN, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to our adolescent residents. Your expertise and passion for psychiatric nursing will make a significant difference in the lives of our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with physicians to transcribe medication orders and ensure accurate dispensing of medications.
  • Review new medication orders and co-sign accurately.
  • Provide care to residents as delegated and supervised by the RN, documenting patient responses.
  • Demonstrate effective therapeutic communication with patients, families, and significant others.
  • Assist with admission and discharge processes under the supervision of an RN.
  • Stock and order medications for the Lodge from a contracted pharmacy.
  • Set up monthly medication books for the East Mountain Youth Lodge units.
  • Assist the Nursing Director with maintaining insurance binders for residents.
  • Intervene in emergency situations and maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment.
  • Document nursing interventions and PRN medication in progress notes.
  • Monitor lab results and fill out original lab slips.
  • Work in a collegial relationship with the school nurse and follow up with injuries or sick children.
  • Place medical appointments in appointment trackers and Meditech systems.
  • Check physician order sheets for updates and corrections.
  • Develop and maintain collegial relationships with team members.
  • Assist with running psycho-education, medication education, health education, and patient/staff meetings.
  • Administer medications and treatments as needed.
  • Maintain computer literacy for inputting orders.
  • Seek areas for performance improvement within the Lodge and Carrier.
  • Attend mandatory in-service programs, Code Practices, and maintain CPR certification and licensure.
  • Assist with the orientation of personnel and students new to the unit.
  • Document adverse reactions and patient incidents on approved hospital incident reports.
  • Oversee the general health care needs of each resident.
Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN program.
  • Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Minimum one year of adolescent psychiatric experience.
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification or completed within the first 90 days of employment.
  • First Aid Program or completed within the first 90 days of employment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
