Key Responsibilities- Perform a range of carpentry tasks, including repairing and constructing walls and partitions, installing and replacing doors, and installing ceilings and carpeting.
- Assist in the renovation, remodeling, and repair of campus building interiors and exteriors, including roofs and plumbing systems.
- Install, repair, and maintain electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, and electrical equipment.
- Operate a variety of electrical equipment, machines, and tools, including motorized equipment, and drive motorized equipment as needed.
- Repair and install mechanical heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment, including compressors, boilers, fans, blowers, cooling towers, motors, valves, ducts, registers, and dampers.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance on heating and cooling equipment, including servicing compressors, lubricating equipment, changing oil and filters, and replacing worn pulleys and belts.
- Clean equipment, equipment rooms, ducts, pipes, and related equipment and fixtures.
- Install new or replacement heating and air conditioning equipment, and troubleshoot, isolate, and repair electrical system faults in HVAC systems.
- Repair and replace thermostats, and operate and monitor the performance of heating and cooling systems.
- Operate a variety of equipment, machines, and tools used in HVAC system maintenance and repair, and drive motorized equipment as needed.
- Change and charge air conditioning compressors, and test and treat water and water handling systems used in cooling equipment.
- Maintain records on work performed, and perform duties as assigned.
- An Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent.
- Two years of experience performing a variety of skilled building construction and maintenance duties related to designated trade and/or field.
- Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license with a good driving record of five years, with no more than one minor accident or violation in the past three years.
- Must have begun or completed the Hepatitis B immunizations.
- Extensive experience directly related to the position duties may be considered in lieu of the degree requirements.
