Emergency Services at Atrium Health Cabarrus deliver comprehensive and high-quality medical attention to patients and their families. Key Responsibilities:

  • Part-time position requiring 16 hours per week, with additional on-call responsibilities during nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Work closely with leadership to align with strategic objectives and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Lead a team focused on delivering quality, evidence-based healthcare.
  • Engage with medical professionals, victim support advocates, law enforcement, and community organizations.
  • Conduct medical forensic examinations for both adults and children.
  • Ensure proper evidence collection while maintaining the integrity of the chain of custody.

Completion of SANE training is required, with SANE-A and/or SANE-P certifications preferred but not mandatory.

Job Summary

This role involves overseeing, developing, and coordinating clinical, research, educational, and financial aspects of the forensic nursing program to ensure high-quality and cost-effective care.

Essential Duties:

  • Manage the clinical care of patients involved in the forensic program, including educational and research activities.
  • Exhibit the necessary knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care for patients across various age groups.
  • Understand the principles of growth and development throughout the lifespan and assess patient data accordingly.
  • Facilitate continuity of care by coordinating clinical pathways and developing tools for effective patient management.
  • Collaborate with the clinical team to address the psychosocial needs of patients and their families.
  • Organize interdisciplinary care conferences to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Work with the clinical team to create and implement relevant educational resources.

Physical Requirements:
Ability to remain seated, stand, or walk for extended periods. Requires manual dexterity and the ability to navigate a fast-paced clinical environment. Must possess intact sensory functions and be mobile within the healthcare system as needed.

Qualifications:

A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required, with a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. A valid North Carolina RN license is mandatory, along with a minimum of two years of nursing experience. Experience in program management is advantageous, with five years of nursing experience preferred. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required as per policy guidelines.
