Job Summary

NYU Langone Health is seeking a highly skilled Medical Assistant to join our team. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our healthcare providers and nursing staff in the ambulatory care setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide culturally sensitive care to patients and families, demonstrating an awareness of and respect for diverse backgrounds.
  • Complete laboratory and ancillary testing, as well as specialty referral forms, in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Transport and accompany patients as needed, ensuring their safety and comfort.
  • Monitor patients' conditions and alert nursing staff to any urgent care needs.
  • Retrieve laboratory and ancillary test results, and communicate them to patients and healthcare providers.
  • Complete patient forms, such as WIC applications, and ensure completeness of encounter forms and prescriptions.
  • Obtain vital signs, including height, weight, head circumference, and chest circumference, as needed.
  • Plot growth charts for pediatric patients and perform simple dressings.
  • Provide translation services as needed, facilitating effective communication between patients and healthcare providers.
  • Coordinate supply requests and perform EKG audiovisual testing, Holter monitor hook-ups and removals, and venous phlebotomy.
  • Respond to patient emergencies, such as cardiac arrest or respiratory failure, and document data collected and care rendered.
  • Demonstrate a sensitive and supportive attitude towards patients, families, and significant others.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all service areas are tidy and well-stocked.
  • Reinforce health teaching to patients and families, promoting healthy behaviors and outcomes.
  • Assist with clerical duties, such as data entry and record-keeping, and attend staff meetings to stay informed and engaged.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • 1-2 years of ambulatory care experience preferred.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse populations.
