Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Travel Nurse RN specializing in cardiac care to join our dedicated team at Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center Crisis Response. This role is essential for providing high-quality care to patients with cardiac conditions.

Certification Requirements
  • Certifications: ACLS required
  • Preferred Certifications: NIH, Charge experience
Job Specifications
  • Minimum Experience: 2 years
  • Traveler Experience: Not required
  • Key Skills: Proficient in Telemetry and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown nursing. Must be able to interpret dysrhythmias and perform remote monitoring. Experience in Pre/Post Cardiac Catheterization, Pre/Post Cardiac Surgery, and Sheath Removal is essential. Competence in accessing ports, administering blood products, managing central lines, and PICC line management is required. Knowledge of cardiac drip titration for Diltiazem and Amiodarone is necessary.
  • Patient Conditions: Experience with Congestive Heart Failure, Arrhythmias, and Post Cardiac Catheterization patients.
  • Unit Responsibilities: Monitor cardiac patients and manage cardiac drips (Dobutamine, Amiodarone, Cardizem, Milrinone, Dopamine, etc.). Perform sheath pulls and manage TR Bands and Femstop.
  • Unit Systems: Familiarity with Pyxis, EPIC, and SBAR is required.
  • Orientation: 24 hours
  • Uniform: Navy scrubs
Job Requirements
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to commencement in this specialty.
  • NM must conduct an interview prior to finalizing the offer.
Schedule Details
  • Patient Ratios: 1:6-7
  • Shift Details: Night shifts, 3x12-hour, totaling 36 or 48 hours. Note: No overtime billed until after 48 hours.
  • Contract Length: Accepting 13-26 week contracts.
  • Request Time Off: Maximum of 7 days.
  • Floating Requirement: Yes, required.
  • Weekend Commitment: 5-6 weekend shifts, equating to every other weekend.
  • Emergency Response: Contract staff may be required to report during catastrophic events or disasters.
  • Unit Specifics: Unit monitors cardiac patients and manages cardiac drips. Familiarity with unit systems (Medication, Documentation, Communication) is essential.
