Job Summary:
  We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at the Alabama Department of Education. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated nurse to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students and contribute to the success of our educational institution.

About the Role:
  As a Licensed Practical Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to students in grades K-12. Your expertise will be invaluable in promoting health, preventing illnesses, and supporting students with special needs. You will work closely with teachers, administrators, and other healthcare professionals to ensure that students receive comprehensive care and support.

Key Responsibilities:
  
  • • Providing direct patient care to students, including administering medications, conducting health assessments, and developing individualized care plans
      
    • • Conducting routine health screenings and monitoring students' progress
        

      
    • • Collaborating with teachers and other school staff to develop and implement health education programs
        
      • • Participating in staff meetings and contributing to the development of school health policies and procedures
          

        
      • • Maintaining accurate records and reporting on student health status and progress
          
        • • Complying with state and federal regulations regarding student health and confidentiality
            

          
        • • Performing other related duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent or designee
            
          • • Staying current with advances in nursing practice and participating in professional development opportunities
              


Requirements:
  To be successful in this role, you will need:

  
  • • A valid Alabama Nursing License
      
    • • Current LPN Certification
        

      
    • • Ability to lift moderate weight and perform physical tasks associated with nursing care
        
      • • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
          

        
      • • Basic computer skills and proficiency in electronic health records systems
          
        • • Familiarity with E-Verify program and ability to verify employment eligibility
            

          
        • • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
            
          • • Commitment to upholding the values and mission of the Alabama Department of Education
