Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Allergy Technician to join our team. As an Allergy Technician, you will play a vital role in patient care, responsible for allergy-related testing and treatment procedures. You will serve as a communication link between patients and physicians, ensuring seamless care delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer allergy testing and treatment procedures, including food, inhalant, chemical, IDT, intradermal, and sublingual testing
  • Calculate and mix treatment sets for immunotherapy
  • Prepare testing and treatment boards and maintain accurate records
  • Administer routine allergy immunotherapy, answer patient questions, and educate patients on allergy services
  • Determine if a patient is experiencing a reaction and follow established protocols
  • Triaging phone calls, providing instructions, and referring patients to physicians as needed
  • Check voicemail and return patient calls in a timely manner
  • Administer emergency medications (SubQ or IM) as required
  • Prioritize tasks consistently and follow through on all responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively with patients, physicians, peers, and management in a clear and concise manner
  • Organize testing and injection rooms, maintain supplies, and ensure a clean and safe environment
  • Cover Serum Coordinator responsibilities when absent
  • Check and maintain ER medications and equipment, providing details to management for ordering
  • Call in prescriptions for Epi-pen and syringes according to established protocols
  • Follow all HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality
  • Complete education requirements for the job, including CPR, Safety, Infection Control, and other necessary training
  • Perform phlebotomy, centrifuge blood, and complete forms to mail specimens to the lab
  • Notify patients of test results in a timely and compassionate manner
Requirements
  • Accurate documentation in EMR and paper charts in a clear, concise, and factual manner
  • Responsible for charging, coding, and posting each procedure accurately
  • Documenting all phone messages in EMR
  • Obtaining Medicaid authorizations or referrals for serum and documenting in EMR
  • Assisting during injection hours, including answering phones, pulling serum, pulling and filing charts
  • Verifying patients' insurance benefits for all allergy procedures
  • Organizing serum lists and emailing to the Serum Coordinator
