Position Overview

JMT, a leading employee-owned consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Transportation Inspector to join our Construction Management Team. This role is pivotal in overseeing transportation construction projects across the state, ensuring compliance with established plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough inspections of contractor operations on various transportation projects, including roadway and bridge construction.
  • Lead and supervise a team of inspection staff throughout the duration of construction projects.
  • Accurately measure and track quantities of pay items.
  • Compile and maintain essential record documents, including material certifications and testing reports.
  • Engage with public stakeholders, government agencies, contractors, and subcontractors to address inquiries and resolve field-related issues.
  • Perform additional related duties as necessary.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology, or a related field, combined with seven years of relevant technician experience.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Proficient in analyzing and interpreting highway construction plans.
  • Demonstrated experience in project planning, development, scheduling, and execution with minimal supervision.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of engineering concepts.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of DOT Standards and Specifications.
  • Preferred certifications include Concrete Field Technician, QMS Roadway Technician, and Conventional Density Testing.
  • Experience working with local clients is advantageous.

Working Environment

This position involves fieldwork, requiring physical capabilities such as bending, kneeling, standing, and lifting objects up to 25 lbs. Work conditions may vary, including exposure to diverse weather elements.
