Job Summary:The Speech Language Pathologist will be responsible for identifying students with speech and language disabilities, developing and implementing programs for improvement and correction, and providing therapeutic services to students with speech and language disorders.
Key Responsibilities:- Assessment and Intervention: Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students with speech and language disabilities, develop and implement individualized programs for improvement and correction, and provide therapeutic services to students with speech and language disorders.
- Collaboration with Teachers and Staff: Work closely with teachers and staff to develop and implement strategies to support students with speech and language disabilities, provide professional development and training on speech and language topics, and collaborate with other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.
- Communication with Parents and Guardians: Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them informed of their child's progress, provide guidance and support on how to support their child's speech and language development, and involve them in the development and implementation of their child's individualized program.
- Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and complete records of student progress, provide regular progress reports to parents and guardians, and participate in parent-teacher conferences to discuss student progress and goals.
- Professional Development: Stay current with best practices in speech and language therapy, participate in professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge, and contribute to the development of policies and procedures related to speech and language services.
- Master's Degree: Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Certification/Licensure: Appropriate certification or licensure in Speech-Language Pathology from the State of Ohio.
- Experience: Experience working with students with speech and language disabilities, preferably in a school setting.
- Skills and Abilities: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents, and ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
The Speech Language Pathologist will work in a school setting, providing services to students with speech and language disabilities. The position requires the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to 50 pounds, and to sit, stand, walk, hear, see, read, crouch, kneel, balance, and stoop frequently. The position may also require occasional travel and exposure to high heat index temperatures and low wind chill temperatures.
