Job Summary
UTMB Health seeks a skilled Physician II to provide professional services related to diagnosis and treatment of inmate patients and employees injured as a result of work-related activities.
The ideal candidate will ensure timely and accessible healthcare to the inmate population, rendering final medical judgments and directing Health Services activities on the unit.
This role requires extensive latitude for initiative and independent judgment, working under the general direction of the Regional Physician.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform complete medical histories and physician examinations, ordering diagnostic tests and interpreting results.
- Prescribe medications and render treatments appropriate to clinical impressions.
- Inspect, complete, and analyze medical records, assigning and reviewing medical classifications.
- Refer patients to specialists for consultations, evaluations, and treatments.
- Directly supervise physicians and mid-level practitioners, overseeing unit operations and ensuring compliance with standards, rules, and regulations.
Requirements
- Current license to practice medicine by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.
- Current Drug Enforcement Agency controlled substances registration.
- Salary is commensurate with years of relevant work experience.
