POSITION SUMMARY:

The College Guidance Counselor plays a crucial role in fostering the academic and professional growth of students. This position is responsible for providing essential leadership to staff and campuses, ensuring the success of assigned programs. The counselor will assist in the development and execution of the college and career assessment initiatives, offering a diverse range of career information and resources. Communication with students, faculty, parents, and community stakeholders regarding career planning and college admissions is vital.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Program Development: Design and implement comprehensive middle and high school programs aimed at empowering students to make informed decisions about their educational and career paths.
  • Student Engagement: Facilitate direct interactions with students to assist in crafting resumes, cover letters, college application essays, and securing scholarships and financial aid.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues to enhance instructional practices and improve student outcomes.
  • Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data to inform strategies that support student learning and program effectiveness.
  • Community Relations: Maintain open communication with parents, students, and community members to promote the district's initiatives and foster positive relationships.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of two years of relevant experience are required. Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred, along with experience in college support programs.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong knowledge of college and career readiness standards.
  • Ability to implement effective instructional methodologies.
