Quality Inspector Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Perform inspection activities to assess conformance of products to design as defined by engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, quality specifications, and quality plans.

Interpret engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, or formulas and confer with management or engineering staff to determine quality and reliability standards.

Inspect products, components, subassemblies, and/or systems to ensure conformance to requirements.

Identify nonconforming conditions that present existing or impending defective conditions at the system or subsystem level of assembly.

Record variable data of inspections into ERP.

Prepare inspection plans and checklists for inspection.

Assist with discrepancy notices for nonconforming material and red tag transactions.

Perform material movement transactions after completion of inspection process.

Assist in gauge calibration process for all basic hand tools and gauges.

Assist in daily, weekly, monthly testing of product such as adhesion and salt spray product testing.

Assist in conducting first article inspections of product.

Conduct monthly process audits as assigned.

Adhere to all quality and safety standards.

Support other projects and perform duties as assigned.


Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Minimum of two-five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and wiring schematics.

Experience in the use of inspection equipment including but not limited to calipers.

Knowledge of manufacturing ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

GD&T proficiency is highly desirable.

Goal-oriented and team-focused to ensure completion of projects in a timely manner.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to work in a self-directed environment.

Possess strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software package (e.g., Microsoft Office).

Experience in ERP systems; SAP desired.
