Carter Lumber is seeking a highly motivated Warehouse Specialist to join our team in the booming building materials/construction industry.
This is an excellent opportunity for individuals who enjoy working with their hands and as part of a team. As a Warehouse Specialist, you will be responsible for various tasks such as loading and unloading customer vehicles and delivery trucks in a safe and professional manner.
- Loading and unloading customer vehicles and delivery trucks.
- Participating in the loading of all goods in the yard in preparation for customer delivery.
- Reading customer orders and shipping orders to determine items to be moved, gathered, distributed, and/or shipped.
- Moving materials and items from receiving or storage areas to shipping or to other designated areas.
Responsibilities also include:
- Assisting with unloading trucks and checking in merchandise.
- Saving time by efficiently sorting and placing materials or items on racks, shelves or in bins.
- Making sure materials are marked with identifying information using the appropriate method.
- Completing and maintaining proper loading documents, as well as shipping and receiving documents.
- Recording amounts of materials or items received or distributed using the appropriate method.
- Daily operation of forklifts for loading and unloading of stock and stock replenishment.
- Assisting with delivery and pick-up on job sites as necessary.
- Assisting in counting of physical inventory.
This position works in a warehouse setting, with some exposure to outside weather conditions. You will use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers, as well as standard warehouse equipment such as a forklift and hand trucks.
RequirementsWe are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 1 year of material handling experience (by hand and utilizing equipment).
- At least 1 year of experience loading and unloading trucks using a forklift.
- The ability to perform manual labor.
- A strong attention to detail.
- The ability to effectively follow written and verbal instructions.
- Strong communication skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Dedication to safety.
- The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds.
- The ability to walk, stand, bend, and stoop for long periods of time.
- The ability to pass background and drug tests.
The estimated annual salary for this position is $45,000 - $60,000 depending on experience and location.
