Job Summary

Amentum is seeking a highly skilled Senior Systems Engineer to support its federal client in Northern VA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in systems engineering and a proven track record of designing, developing, and evaluating complex systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle.
  • Generate quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics.
  • Ensure requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.
  • Translate high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and work with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements.
  • Establish and coordinate development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development.
  • Design interfaces and bring system elements together so they work as a whole.
  • Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
  • Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements.
  • Participate in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience or 7 years of experience.
  • Must have TS/SCI++ clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Applying different project management models (e.g. Spiral, Waterfall, Agile) on development effort.
  • Analyzing, designing, developing, deploying, and providing lifecycle support for innovative hardware systems and applications.
  • Performing functional analysis, timeline analysis, cost estimation, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Managing software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
  • Estimating software development costs and schedule.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Design techniques, tools, and principles.
  • Knowledge of the Intelligence Community.
  • Project Management concepts and principles.
  • Project planning and management skills, including scope of work, time estimation, and resource assignment.
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills; ability to create original concepts/theories for various projects.
  • Technology Design, including generating or adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs.
  • Systems Analysis and determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes.
  • Operations Analysis and analyzing needs and product requirements to create a design.
