We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Custodian III to join our team at Crossroads YMCA Inc. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and sanitation of our facilities, providing legendary experiences for our members, and supporting the work of our organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure facilities are attractive and clean by completing all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintaining upkeep of assigned areas and equipment.
• Perform duties including mopping, cleaning and sanitizing restroom surfaces, dusting, trash removal, window washing, vacuuming, cleaning bases of exercise equipment, seasonal activities consisting of snow removal and general cleaning.
• Perform housekeeping laundry, refilling disinfectant bottles, and restocking closets.
• Operate and train others on the proper use of motorized and non-motorized equipment.
• Ability to follow checklist complete tasks and ask for guidance as needed.
• Ability to work independently and follow verbal and/or written instructions.
• Train, coach, and mentor Custodial staff members.
• Assist Custodial leadership in daily responsibilities with staff and ensure productivity and quality work.
• Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies.
• Records and reports all needed repairs; repairs as directed.
• Assist with minor building maintenance and possess knowledge of motorized machine operation for custodial equipment.
• Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum age 18 required.
• 1 year or more of related experience required.
• Certifications required within 30 days of hire: CPR/AED & First Aid and New Employee Orientation.
• Complete Listen First and I Hear You Service with Care training within designated time.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to relate and communicate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Must be able to travel within Lake County to other Crossroad Branches.
• Must be able to work flexible schedule of nights, weekends, and holidays.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Visual, auditory, and verbal ability to communicate effectively.
• Must have a high level of alertness, concentration, and initiative.
• Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform job responsibilities.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand, walk, or sit for extended periods of time; occasionally stoop/bend.
• Ability to work with cleaning solvents and chemicals.
• Occasionally stand on ladder.
• Maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times.
• Sufficient physical strength and agility to carry out essential duties.
