Job Title: Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant Floater plays a vital role in providing clinical and administrative support in a dynamic, patient-facing environment. This role involves rotating between centers to assist providers, maintain patient records, prepare patients and rooms for examination, and ensure a seamless patient experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Pre-visit planning: Ensures a meaningful and high-quality experience for patients by preparing for visits 48 hours in advance.
  • Vital sign entry: Enters vital signs into patient records and alerts providers to any abnormalities or patient comments that require attention.
  • Medication reconciliation: Performs medication reconciliation on the day of the patient visit, including over-the-counter medications and allergies.
  • Health Risk Assessments: Assists primary care providers with the completion of Health Risk Assessments.
  • Patient room preparation: Ensures patient rooms are clean, organized, and equipped with necessary instruments for each visit.
  • Review and education: Reviews patient records and educates patients on instructions and recommended medications before discharge.
  • Appointment rescheduling: Reviews daily with providers to reschedule missed appointments and ensure patient compliance.
  • Advocacy: Serves as an advocate to ensure patient compliance with preventive screenings and immunizations.
  • Confidentiality: Complies with HIPAA requirements for patient confidentiality.
  • Communication: Ensures timely communication with patients and providers regarding appointment scheduling and patient needs.
  • Compliance: Complies with regular attendance and hours of operation policy.
  • Collaboration: Works collaboratively with providers to identify high-risk patients and provide additional support.
  • Phlebotomy: Performs phlebotomy when assigned.
Experience and Required Skills:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Active, unrestricted Medical Assistant Certification from the State of Florida preferred.
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program required.
  • Basic CPR or BLS certificate required.
  • Minimum of 2 years as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in a geriatric clinical setting preferred.
  • Experience in executing treatments within scope of practice.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer skills.
  • Ability to learn and practice office procedures, policies, and protocols.
  • Proficient in grammar, spelling, and verbal skills for effective communication.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
