Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Management: Safely oversee the compounding and dispensing of chemotherapy and other non-hazardous infusions, ensuring accurate medication lists and minimizing drug waste.
  • Patient Education: Provide initial teaching for patients starting a new treatment regimen, ensuring they understand their medication and treatment plans.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with other healthcare providers to develop, build, and maintain electronic treatment plans within the EHR using evidence-based guidelines.
  • Drug Information and Support: Serve as a cancer medication expert, providing drug information to providers, nurses, and patients, and implementing strategies to reduce exposure to hazardous medications.
  • Education and Training: Provide educational in-services to pharmacy and other hospital staff, and to community health professionals and consumers, promoting best practices in oncology care.
  • Leadership and Representation: Represent pharmacy at hospital or medical staff committees as assigned by the Director, ensuring pharmacy's voice is heard and valued.
Requirements
  • Education: Pharmacy degree (BS or Pharm.D.) from an ACPE-approved college of pharmacy.
  • Licensure: Licensed, or eligible for licensure, pharmacist in Colorado.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years oncology experience required, with residency or fellowship training in oncology desirable.
  • Certifications: Board certification in oncology desirable, and current BLS certification or current within 90 days of employment.
