Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced professional to join our team as an Environmental Specialist I - Regulator of Environmental Health. In this role, you will conduct field inspections to ensure compliance with state and local laws and regulations related to environmental health. You will also be responsible for providing education and preparing legal notices, among other duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regulatory field inspections to ensure compliance with state and local laws and regulations related to environmental health;
  • Inspect public swimming pools and bathing places to ensure compliance with state water quality, safety, and operating standards;
  • Investigate environmental nuisance complaints relative to improperly treated solid waste, human/animal waste, disease vectors, and any other environmentally related threat to public health;
  • Provide education and training to clients and stakeholders on environmental health issues;
  • Prepare legal notices and enforcement actions as necessary;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must have a strong background in environmental health and a willingness to work independently. We require:

  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in public health, environmental health, environmental sciences, or a physical or biological science;
  • Valid driver's license free of major infractions and access to an automobile to be utilized for work purposes;
  • Ability to work outside in extreme weather conditions;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to meet programmatic deadlines and work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency;
