About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Pathology Specialist - Autopsy Preparation to join our team. As a valued member of our pathology department, you will play a critical role in preparing anatomical specimens for microscopic examination, including frozen and permanent sections for light, electron, and immunofluorescent microscopy. Your expertise will also be essential in performing postmortem examinations, dictating organ weights, and gross anatomic findings to determine the cause of death. Additionally, you will be responsible for maintaining equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology area to ensure proper operation and safety.

Responsibilities
* Independently prepare tissues for microscopic examination, including preparation of frozen and permanent sections for various types of microscopy.
* Conduct postmortem examinations as the primary prosector, including external examination, in-situ organ inspection, evisceration, dissection, and dictation of organ weights and gross anatomic findings to determine the cause of death.
* Maintain all gross room and morgue equipment, pathology archives, and archived specimens, ensuring their accuracy and integrity.
* Photograph samples for conferences and educational purposes, highlighting key findings and contributing to knowledge sharing within the medical community.
* Ensure the proper maintenance of equipment, adequate supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology area to guarantee safe and efficient operations.

Requirements and Qualifications
* Bachelor's Degree in a related biological sciences field (Master's Degree preferred).
* 1-3 years of experience in grossing or a related field (Certification or eligibility for PA certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is desired).
