Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse-Medical Oncology to join our team at NYU Langone Health. As a key member of our interdisciplinary healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care, leading improvement efforts, and collaborating with colleagues to achieve organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead quality and safety performance improvement initiatives, focusing on nurse-sensitive quality indicators and unit-based quality measures.
  • Educate patients and families about their health status and care plans, determining learning needs and implementing educational plans.
  • Evaluate patient progress, involve patients and families in the evaluation process, and respond to variations in patient progress by modifying interventions.
  • Coordinate and direct unit activities to create a healing, humane, and caring environment through innovative activities.
  • Lead unit projects to improve unit throughput efficiencies and metrics.
  • Comply with professional standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Collect, assess, and document patient healthcare data, using innovative strategies to direct the interdisciplinary team and patient/family to identify a plan of care and outcomes.
  • Lead interventions in the coordination of patient care, applying and promoting the escalation process, and considering the needs and behaviors of specific patient age groups and cultural groups.
  • Analyze delegation practices to ensure activities are followed through, demonstrating the ability to differentiate between activities within the scope of professional nursing practice and those that may be delegated to ancillary staff.
  • Comply with annual education and mandatory/regulatory requirements, serving as a support, resource, and preceptor for nursing staff and students.
  • Engage in self-assessment and peer review, utilizing resources to meet individual learning needs and promote professional development in clinical practice.
  • Adhere to patient care and nursing standards in care delivery, using clinical practice guidelines, and recommending new and/or revised care standards into practice.
  • Volunteer to lead unit practice councils (UPC) activities, utilizing the practice council structure to critically appraise and influence practice.
Requirements
  • Current Registered Professional Nurse in New York
  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing
  • Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
  • Fluent written and spoken English language skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Membership in pertinent professional organizations
