Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Library Assistant to join our team at the College of New Caledonia. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing library collections, providing excellent customer service, and supporting the College's learning community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage library materials, including checking in and out, shelving, and inventory control.
  • Provide registration services for borrowers, including issuing cards and maintaining records.
  • Process payments for lost or damaged books, computer time, and other services.
  • Assist with circulation desk duties, including answering directional and reference questions.
  • Support computer labs and public stations, including replacing toner and paper, and helping users with basic questions.
  • Handle room booking requests and assist with opening and closing the Learning Commons.
  • Contribute to a positive work atmosphere by interacting with students and colleagues in a professional and respectful manner.

Requirements:

  • One or more years of relevant library or office experience, with previous library experience preferred.
  • Excellent keyboarding skills (minimum 40 wpm, 90% accuracy preferred), filing, and general office skills.
  • Ability to deal well with the public and fellow employees.
  • Good organizational skills and computer experience.
