Job Title: Middle School Math Teacher

We are seeking a highly qualified and passionate Middle School Math Teacher to join our team at Queen City Academy Charter School. As a Middle School Math Teacher, you will play a critical role in shaping the academic journey of our students and helping them develop a deep understanding of mathematical concepts.

Job Summary:

The Middle School Math Teacher will be responsible for teaching fundamental middle school math concepts, including ratios and proportions, expressions and equations, and the number system. You will also be expected to develop culturally responsive math curriculum and utilize culturally responsive problem-solving strategies to engage students and promote critical thinking.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach middle school math concepts to students in grades 6-8
  • Develop and implement culturally responsive math curriculum
  • Utilize culturally responsive problem-solving strategies to engage students and promote critical thinking
  • Meet with the principal and/or instructional coach to analyze and respond to trends in student work samples and assessments
  • Learn and apply strategies for differentiating instruction for all students in the classroom
  • Develop positive relationships with students to make them feel seen, loved, and heard
  • Partner with families to ensure that adequate resources are available to support their child's learning needs
  • Serve as an example of our core values and support student progress by participating in weekly school-wide meetings
  • Partner with the grade level team to set academic objectives and implement teaching techniques
Qualifications:

The successful candidate will hold a minimum of a Bachelor's degree and certification as appropriate. The expectation is that all candidates hold at least a Certificate of Eligibility and QCACS leadership can provide guidance on obtaining full certification in the State of New Jersey. Candidates should be prepared to provide a copy of a valid New Jersey Certificate or proof of passing the required PRAXIS tests. Applicants must demonstrate cultural sensitivity, ability to communicate with parents and students across lines of difference, mastery of subject matter content, be a team player, hold high expectations of students, and possess a basic understanding of child development.
