Fiscal Technician Job Description

James Madison University is seeking a highly skilled Fiscal Technician to join our team. As a Fiscal Technician, you will play a critical role in supporting the department's financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process expenditure forms and maintain expenditure databases
  • Reconcile department and grant budgets
  • Process student awards through the department's Foundation account
  • Assist in setting up new grants and complete follow-up forms and software access
  • Process travel through Chrome River, JMU's mobile expense management software
  • Prepare hiring documents for grant-hired students and enter hours into appropriate systems
  • Use the eVA state procurement system for purchasing equipment and supplies
  • Use the AIM work order system to enter building work orders for the archaeology lab
  • Reconcile the department's Small Purchase credit card monthly
  • Maintain the department website and archaeology lab physical inventory
  • Acquire dash and visitor parking passes for the archaeology parking spaces
  • Perform office duties as assigned and serve as backup for the office manager
Requirements:
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
  • Financial experience, including budgeting, accounts payable/receivable, and credit card reconciliation
  • Excellent customer service skills and oral and written communication skills
  • Experience with web design/management is beneficial but not required
