Key Responsibilities
- Support the store manager and team members in delivering an exceptional customer shopping experience while fostering a culture of customer service excellence.
- Assist the store manager in guiding teams to plan, implement, and execute merchandising and operational strategies.
- Collaborate with the store manager to develop communication plans based on Associate Insight survey feedback.
- Work alongside department heads and store associates to identify opportunities for improvement, devise timely solutions, and create actionable plans for implementation.
- Exemplify and demand the highest standards of customer service while addressing associate and customer concerns.
- Oversee overall store operations in the absence of the store manager.
- Achieve or surpass weekly, monthly, and annual sales targets, wage budgets, profit goals, and other key performance indicators.
- Drive sales by partnering with department managers to optimize sales and profits, minimize shrinkage, and enhance departmental contributions.
- Assist the store manager in conducting regular financial performance discussions with associates regarding budget development and targeted goals.
- Analyze and respond to the competitive landscape within the district or division.
- Demonstrate inclusive leadership and expect similar behavior from associates.
- Utilize coordinators and other field staff to ensure departmental sales and profit goals are met and that division merchandising plans are executed effectively.
- Promote and support strong relationships with local community organizations.
- Assist in fostering productive relationships with union representatives if applicable.
- Communicate essential information to associates to facilitate their duties effectively.
- Act as a liaison to store and district managers regarding the effectiveness of merchandising and operational plans.
- Assist the store manager in staffing efforts, reducing turnover, and enhancing retention.
- Provide timely feedback on individual and departmental performance to department heads and associates.
- Assist with daily labor management and supply costs to meet customer service and financial objectives.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies.
- Supervise and mentor direct reports, conducting performance reviews and providing constructive feedback.
- Must be capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 1 year of experience in a managerial role or equivalent experience.
- Approval from store manager, district manager, or direct supervisor.
- Experience in retail management with a solid understanding of all aspects of store operations.
- Experience supervising staff.
